February go to restaurants : Jason Atherton’s flagship restaurant in Mayfair, Pollen Street Social, has become a staple of London’s fine dining scene and is a reassuring reminder of why he has become the most consistently rated restaurateur of late. He may be more dependable than trailblazing but for most people who are prepared to drop a decent chunk of money on a meal, that’s exactly what you want. Great for client entertaining and special occasions.
Talk of the town, in Soho at least, is Neil Rankin’s new taco and BBQ hybrid concept, Temper in a buzzy industrial basement space. The menu is fantastic, so much so, that the group I went with ordered almost the entire menu. Arrive hungry, leave satisfied.
Corbin and King continue to cater to a packed house at Islington’s Bellanger. Weekend brunch is an absolute must meal and Tart Flambées are a must try dish. On my most recent visit I was completely at the mercy of the Coq au Riesling – make sure you order plenty of the crispy French bread to mop up every last drop of sauce.
