Dreaming Of Moroccan Winter Sunshine

Here at North London Calling we will use any excuse imaginable to try and wangle our way to a Winter holiday. Currently on our wish list is this stunning boutique design hotel in Marrakech.

Marrakech is known for its souks and the medina, providing a theatrical day-to-day setting. An existing design culture is evident throughout Marrakech whilst a growing vibrant art and photography scene continues to develop.

So where better to unveil a boutique design hotel than in Marrakech, a city full of hidden artistic treasures and unrivalled craftsmanship? Launched only in February 2016, the highly original decor of Almaha Marrakech was conceived by Belgian architect and designer Charles Kaisin, drawing inspiration from the famous Charles Baudelaire poem ‘L’invitation au voyage’. To fully experience the magic is to combine the excitement of the medina and then retreat to Almaha Marrakech, a new riad that embraces tranquillity in this great red city.

This new riad hotel, with 12 individually styled bedrooms, is a tranquil hideaway, located in Marrakech’s oldest neighbourhood, the Kasbah, where the former royal stables once stood. As guests enter the vast wooden doors at Almaha Marrakech, they are instantly immersed, surrounded by unique craftsmanship and welcomed with warm Moroccan hospitality.

Both innovative and disciplined in approach, Charles Kaisin has combined traditional Moroccan design, including centuries old traditional craftsmanship, with more contemporary design elements.

From the underground hammam and spa designed to relax and stimulate the senses, to the roof top terrace, where guests can dine and enjoy the swimming pool, which is open throughout the day, it truly is magnificent. The Pixel Room is perfect for mint tea, pastries and evening drinks and The Library for breakfast, lunch and dinner; both offer marked design contrasts.

There is nowhere on earth like Jemaa el Fna, the most famous square at the heart of authentic Marrakech. There is nowhere like the Pixel Room at Almaha Marrakech that best celebrates that heady blend of discoveries from this unique square. The Library at Almaha Marrakech is fully influenced by the poem ‘Invitation to voyage’ where the author writes about luxury, peace and pleasure.

Almaha Marrakech invites guests to voyage and discover this unique hotel in this spectacular setting.
