Initially launching with 13 packages that highlight the unique culinary culture of each destination, Taste of Waldorf Astoria Unforgettable Experiences are available on select dates throughout 2016. Highlights include a VIP chef-led tour of Mahane Yehuda Market at Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem; a visit to a local date farm followed by a date-themed cooking class at Waldorf Astoria Ras AlKhaimah; and a three-hour fishing trip with dinner featuring the day’s catch at Waldorf Astoria Panama. Pricing for these ultra-luxurious packages range from $900 – $6,000.
The launch of the experiences coincides with the introduction of the 2016 Taste of Waldorf Astoria winning dish, the Jing Roll, on all Waldorf Astoria Hotels Resorts menus worldwide. Created by Waldorf Astoria Beijing Master Chef, Benoit Chargy, and JBF Rising Star Semi-Finalist Chef, Erik Bruner-Yang, the Jing Roll is a Napa cabbage wagyu beef roll with black mushroom, hoisin sauce, salted duck eggs and purple sweet potato.
The annual Taste of Waldorf Astoria honours the brand’s heritage as the birthplace of legendary culinary inventions such as Eggs Benedict, Red Velvet Cake and the Waldorf Salad by pairing JBF Rising Star Semi-Finalist chefs with prominent Waldorf Astoria Master Chefs to create the next iconic dish. After a weeklong collaboration at the respective Waldorf Astoria Master Chefs’ restaurants, participants come together at Waldorf Astoria New York to compete in front of a panel of culinary luminaries who award that year’s winning dish.
Designed for travellers who seek to discover a culture through its cuisine, the new Taste of Waldorf Astoria Unforgettable Experiences perfectly complement itineraries already available through Waldorf Astoria Unforgettable Experiences, an initiative introduced in 2015 to highlight truly bespoke offers from each of the brand’s 27 properties worldwide. The experiential packages incorporate the most engaging and exclusive activities in each destination, such as a camel ride to a private desert dinner for two at Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah or an authentic alligator hunt in an airboat at The Roosevelt New Orleans, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
