North London Calling are huge advocates of anything bubbly. So obviously when we’re at Nobu or any event worth being at, we know that we can usually sip on the best quality Champagne in the industry, Thomson & Scott and be bloat free in the morning.
For those who don’t know, Thomson & Scott are specialists in low and no added sugar sparkling wines and champagnes. Their cool new Skinny Prosecco has just 67 calories a glass and 7g/l sugar instead of the traditional 12-15g/l. Wow! The Prosecco is also organic and vegan.

North London Calling managed to get the Skinny on Amanda Thomson, (CEO) finding out exactly why she decided to launch her own ‘No Added Sugar’ Champagne. Enjoy.
By Amanda Scott, CEO Thomson & Scott:
“Delicious, beautifully crafted, sugar-free champagne seems an obvious luxury now we all care so much about what we drink and are trying to avoid the evils of sugar. But when I decided to create Thomson & Scott, people thought the idea was mad, impossible – or both!
In 2009 I was working as a BBC broadcaster. It was undeniably exciting: interviewing celebrities from Tom Cruise to David Cameron, working against the clock, and running from screenings to edit room on a diet of canapés, coffee and super-sweet sparkling. I loved it, but had a niggling dream to run away to Paris and learn about wine. Surely another impossibility, given that I had two young children, not to mention a husband with his own demanding career.
I’m grateful now that my passion for wine didn’t go away. By luck, I found a fantastic course at Le Cordon Bleu, and we made the huge decision to move to Paris. At a wine tasting one evening I had my ‘eureka’ moment. I met a Champagne maker whose fizz was incredible – and had no added sugar. By this stage I was only too aware that most makers add what can amount to spoonfuls of sugar [up to 15 to 20 grams a bottle] to their Champagne. If you could have the perfect taste by harvesting the best grapes at the right time and leaving the drink to mature for longer in the bottle, why wouldn’t you? Thomson & Scott Skinny was born!
Thomson & Scott Skinny Champagne Grand Cru Brut and Rosé are unashamedly luxurious.
Thomson & Scott Skinny Prosecco, launched a couple of months ago, has already sold out across the UK. It’s low sugar – less that half the usual amount added to Prosecco – and it’s also organic and vegan certified, further elements I believe that are becoming increasingly important to the next generation who want transparency in what they drink and eat.
It’s a lifestyle thing. I wouldn’t pack my food with sugar and weird chemicals, and this ethos is why anyone who loves fresh tastes and clean living can’t get enough of us.”
